Montvydaitė would be appointed for a four-year term as of July 1.

She has served as Lithuania’s consul in Sejny since March 2013 and was deputy director general of the Ethnic Minority and Emigration Department in 2002-2009.

The department was dissolved in 2010 and the Ministry of Culture was made responsible for the ethnic minority policy in Lithuania. Last year, the Lithuanian government decided to re-establish the department as of July.
