More anti-corruption investigations coming, Lithuanian Prosecutor General tells politicians

DELFI / Domantas Pipas

The General Prosecutor has said that accusations will be presented to two Labour party members as well as several more individuals who, according to the Vilnius District Court, may have provided false testimony during the Labour party‘s “black book-keeping” case.

The recent announcements were not limited to party members and political figures. Other individuals who may soon be under investigation include musicians and celebrities as well as common accountants.

It is believed that singer Žilvinas Žvagulis and Juozas Liesis, former member of the band Bavarija, both performed at Labour party events and received large parts of their compensation “off the books.” Other individuals potentially facing charges include accountants and administrators implicated in the Labour party’s fraud case.

The suspicions against Seimas members may take longer to process, as the Seimas must first agree to nullify a Seimas member’s immunity before they can be charged.
