MP Šalaševičiūtė proposed as Lithuanian minister of healthcare

Her nomination received a green light from the party’s presidium on Tuesday evening.

Šalaševičiūtė has a degree in law from Vilnius University and has worked as Seimas ombudswoman and ombudswoman for children’s rights.

Under the agreement of the ruling coalition, candidates for healthcare minister are to be proposed by the Social Democrats.

Vytenis Povilas Andriukaitis, the outgoing minister of healthcare, is leaving the post in order to take up a position at the European Commission.
