“I appreciate the confidence shown in me by the party members. Vilnius is ready for changes. The time has come to take proper care of its financial matters, to clean up the energy sector from corruption and create a city for young families to settle down and raise their children,” Majauskas said in his press release on Monday.
Members of the Vilnius unit of the Homeland Union selected their mayoral nominee from five candidates in a direct election. In the first round Majauskas enjoyed the support of 45 percent.
