According to the press release, the Alliance’s jets intercepted three Russian Su-27 planes flying in the international airspace last Thursday. All three warplanes had failed to provide flight plans, had their automatic onboard transponders off and did not maintain contact with flight controllers.

The NATO air-policing mission is conducted from Lithuania and Estonia.
