The Neringa municipal council has decided to double the entry fee for passenger cars during the period between June 20 and August 20.
The entry fee for motorhomes has been raised to €30, from €20.
Neringa Mayor Darius Jasaitis has told BNS that the new rates, approved last week, are aimed at encouraging tourists to travel to Neringa using public transportation rather than private cars.
“We are looking forward to welcoming as many tourists as possible, but we cannot cope with the influx of cars during this period,” he said.
The entry fee for passenger cars remains unchanged at €5 per vehicle during the rest of the year.
