He said that he expected that the possibility to perform one’s professional practice at the new modern laboratories, supervised by acknowledged scientists and researchers, would be an important reason for young and talented high-fliers to choose studies in Lithuania.

“Studies in Lithuania have revealed that research and technology funding made the greatest impact on the development of competitive economy during the previous financial period of the European Union. Which in turn helped businesses to get engaged more actively in biotechnology, IT and communications technology, future energy and other advanced areas,” the PM said.

Butkevičius also stressed that the Government will continue to increase support to research projects and experimental development, paying particular attention to energy efficiency projects.
