
His re-election was supported by 607 party fellows, while the other candidate, MEP Valentinas Mazuronis, received 150 votes. Mazuronis, who was earlier Paksas’ first deputy, was not appointed to the position.
Paksas has been heading the party ever since it was founded in 2002 under the name of the Liberal Democratic Party. It changed its name to the Order and Justice Party in 2006. Paksas only made a break on the leadership when he was Lithuania’s president in 2003-2004.
