The MEP plans to run for the European Parliament with the new public movement.

Speaking with BNS Lithuania on Saturday, Paksas said his new public movement, called “I am Calling the Nation” had already been registered and it would soon start establishing regional representations and offices. The new movement will run for the European Parliament, he said.

“We will nominate to the European Parliament people who are in favor of (…) a state with its language, traditions, customs, currency, territory. And also those people who want and see the opportunity, so they will be backed and supported, be it one election or another, education or spreading of information, so that it doesn’t broadcast one opinion,” Paksas said.

A bit earlier in the day, Paksas left the Order and Justice party he co-founded. He earlier mulled running for the party’s chairman but failed to attend the party’s convention on Saturday, and the party’s incumbent chairman Remigijus Žemaitaitis was re-elected.

Paksas founded the Liberal Democratic Party with allies in 2002 and later renamed it the Order and Justice party. He led the party until 2016.
