Palanga Summer festival opens in Lithuania’s Baltic coast resort

The festival’s main music events will take place in the Kurhauzas, a historic building that has become a symbol of Palanga.

The various types of music will include classical music and jazz, poetry evenings and other types of events.

On Tuesday, the festival opened with an event entitled Amber Serenade of Bach with three international music stars: concertmaster Alexey Lundin, violist Erik Wenbo Xu, and concertmaster, soloist Vytautas Sondeckis.

The festival will also include a tribute to poet Justinas Marcinkevičius and a celebration of the 300th anniversary of Kristijonas Donelaitis, the founding father of Lithuanian literature.

The festival in the resort will be closed by the performance delivered by one of the most famous Lithuanian pianists Petras Geniušas.
