Photo of the week: Can this Lithuanian coat of arms be seen from space?

Karolis Misevičius, one of the organizers, explained the scale: “If you imagine a standard stadium football field whose area is about 1 hectare, the drawing takes up the space of about 20 of those. We believe that it will last for several days or even a week and that it will be seen from space. We will comprehend its true size when an optical satellite passes above it on July 9th.”

The record for largest coat of arms belongs to Turkey, which painted 1.2 hectares of land. By land area covered in paint, the Lithuanian coat of arms is 5 times larger.
