PM bids farewell to outgoing Norwegian Ambassador

“The period of your diplomatic service in Lithuania was exceptionally active for of our country: for the first time we stood at the helm of the Council of the European Union, chaired the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Lithuania was elected a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council,” said the Prime Minister, and underlined that the Prime Minister of Norway Jens Stoltenberg, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Espen Barth Eide and other high-ranking officials visited Lithuania during the term of the Ambassador Ulland.

During the meeting, the prime Minister and the Ambassador rejoiced over the work of the Norwegian-Lithuanian business forum (Norway is the fifth largest investor in Lithuania) as well as the successful cooperation with the Norwegian companies during the implementation process of the liquefied natural gas terminal in Klaipėda.

Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius also thanked the Ambassador for his special attention to promoting cultural exchange: Lithuania organized the Norwegian days, commemorated the 200th anniversary of the Constitution of Norway, presented the Constitution of the Republic of Užupis in Norwegian, organized business forums and other special events.
