“I do believe it’s an officer who has honestly worked for Lithuania and he’s the officer … who will manage to resolve the hopeless situation at the Center of Registers,” Skvernelis told journalists on Wednesday.

Urbanavičius says he’s always seen his future with working for the state.

“Upon finishing work at the Special Investigation Service, I said and can repeat once again that I saw my future working for the state. I wanted a bit of change and think that this position will give that. This is a different area, it will be different but I will still be working for the state,” Urbanavičius told BNS Lithuania on Wednesday, refraining from discussing his vision and plans.

Urbanavičius led the STT since 2013 and decided to leave in late March. He has a long history of working in the law enforcement area, having worked almost six years for the Organized Crime Investigation Service of Vilnius City Chief Police Commissariat, and spending over ten years working for the Customs Criminal Service.
