DELFI / Tomas Vinickas

There were two factors behind the decrease of population. First, negative net migration accounted for 58.5 percent of the overall decrease – 12,600 more people emigrated than immigrated. Second, 41.5 percent decrease was determined by negative natural population change – 8,900 more people died than were born.
