“It was, of course, a turn in the energy sector which ensured our energy independence – the construction of the liquefied natural gas terminal. Also, it was national security when the allies increased their support to Lithuania in the NATO meeting in Wales. When it comes to internal security, it was the fight against corruption where Lithuania improved its result on the corruption perception index and stood 17th among the EU member-states while previously we were much lower,” Būdienė said on the Žinių Radijas radio.

The president’s advisor also noted that 2014 was the year of social justice: Lithuania was among the 7 fastest growing EU member-states, the process of pension compensation has been launched, the minimum monthly pay was raised, unemployment went down, and the country prepared for the currency changeover.
