Prime Minister Butkevičius bids farewell to outgoing Czech ambassador

Butkevičius thanked the Czech ambassador for the his contribution in developing good bilateral relations, and discussed prospects for economic cooperation between the countries.

“I trust that the time of your diplomatic service in Lithuania was full of pleasant experiences and challenges that were not too difficult to meet. You worked here during the time when Lithuania, for the first time in history, and the first among the Baltic States, held Presidency of the Council of the European Union, stood at the steering-wheel of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), and was elected a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council”, said the prime minister.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Butkevičius and the ambassador discussed the ever strengthening relations between the two states: in 2013, trade volumes between Lithuania and the Czech Republic grew 20.7 per cent and totalled 602.6 million euros; export went up approximately 30 per cent and amounted to 190.5 million euros, and import increased by 16.8 per cent to reach 412.1 million euros.
