A total of 435 findings to discontinue the pre-trial investigations and 893 findings to refuse opening a probe were checked and subsequently 23 terminated probes were resumed. Furthermore, 15 new investigations were started.
The check was ordered by Prosecutor General Evaldas Pašilis and started on January 27 after a 4-year-old boy died after severe beating in his home in Kėdainiai, central Lithuania, and a later investigation showed that the violence against the boy had already been investigated but the probe had been dropped.
