The said installation was featured in the exhibition “Dissident” and appeared in the courtyard of one of former KGB headquarters in Riga. It has been removed due to controversy but will be reinstated later this week.

The Russian embassy handed the note to Latvia’s Foreign Ministry on Monday evening, protesting undignified use of President Putin’s image.

“The [Latvian] Foreign Ministry will examine the note and will then decide on a possible response. We have said, however, that the Foreign Ministry refrains from judging art, believing it is a job for critics, not the ministry,” Ivars Lašis, spokesman for the ministry, told BNS.
