Seimas panel to look into cyber security efforts

“The function was consolidated, and we want to hear about institutional readiness after all the Kaspersky scandals and cyber attacks, as well as whether they conform to the cyber security standards and how the Defence Ministry is doing to perform the function,” Vytautas Bakas, chairman of the parliamentary committee, told BNS ahead of the meeting.

After a series of cyber attacks this summer, the Defence Ministry in the summer announced plans to consolidate the cyber security capacities.

The defence system was changed to include the Infostruktura company managing the state data transmission network and the Interior Ministry’s function to ensure electronic security.
