Šiauliai police officers on trial for corruption, drug dealing

DELFI / Ainis Gurevičius

They will face charges for allegedly seizing and re-selling various narcotic substances, providing false testimony, writing false police reports, and counterfeiting evidence for prosecution of a person.

The investigation started in 2012 after the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Lithuanian Criminal Police Bureau received information about possibly unlawful actions of the Šiauliai Organized Crime Investigation Bureau officers in connection to drug deals.

According to case information, the police officers released a detained suspect for a large bribe.

If found guilty, the officers would face up to 15 years in prison.
