The fate of the ten MPs is yet to be decided by the Social Democratic Party’s council.

The MPs may be expelled after they chose to continue working with the LFGU, although the LSDP council in September decided to terminate the coalition agreement with the ruling party.

At the end of September, nine Social Democratic MPs, including Juozas Bernatonis, Antanas Vinkus, Artūras Skardžius, Irena Šiaulienė, Rimantė Šalaševičiūtė, Algirdas Butkevičius, Rimantas Sinkevičius, Andrius Palionis and Gediminas Kirkilas, voted in support of continuing cooperation with the Farmers and Greens Union. Four MPs, namely, Rasas Budbergytė, Raminta Popovienė, Algirdas Sysas and Juozas Olekas, were against. Julius Sabatauskas abstained and three more Social Democrats were absent from the vote.

The ethics watchdogs also suggested expelling Mindaugas Bastys who signed an agreement on the coalition of the political group but did not participate in the vote.
