Two women proved that Lithuania had violated their property rights. Lithuanian court initially recognized their rights to land nationalized by Soviet authorities but later cancels them as forests of state significance were situated in those land plots.

The restitution procedure continues but the women’s property rights have not been restored so far.

The court awarded one woman a compensation of 7,000 euros for non-pecuniary damages, and the other one was awarded 3,000 euros. A ruling on pecuniary damages will be issued following the final decision of Lithuanian institutions.
