Ten times fewer millionaires in Lithuania after euro adoption

The State Tax Inspectorate estimates that, according to official declarations, there were 1,693 people in 2013 who owned assets in excess of one million litas.

However, after converting their wealth into euros, most of them lost the “millionaire” title. According to the State Tax Inspectorate, there were only 189 individuals in Lithuania who declared assets of over one million euros.

In 2012, there were 133 Lithuanians who owned over one million euros (1,325 over one million litas); in 2011, 167 (1,378 over one million litas).
