A rally stretched towards the central memorial of those killed in World War I and World War II, with the national anthems of Lithuania and Germany playing in the background.

Defense Vice-Minister Vytautas Umbrasas and Germany’s Ambassador Angelika Viets paid tribute to the victims of the wars and laid wreaths of flowers.

A similar ceremony was also held in Antakalnio Cemetery – flowers were laid on a monument to German and Russian soldiers killed in World War I, followed by a rally towards the Memorial of Lithuanian Freedom Defenders.
