“I can confirm that a pre-trial investigation has begun regarding potential corrupt actions, and searches of the port director’s office were performed as part of the process. The head of the infrastructure department and a Latvian citizen have been detained,” said STT deputy director Roman Zienka.
The names of the suspects were not revealed, but the current infrastructure department head at Klaipėda port, as of January, is Gediminas Zumaras. Authorities said they would reveal more details on Friday.
