“I etch my eggs with a blade. I blow out the egg, dye it, then etch the egg with a blade,” Luschas told the Lithuania Tribune. “I took the traditional onion etched technique and updated it to use hollow eggs dyed various colors. I etch traditional designs as well as modern designs.” On her website, she writes “As a Lithuanian family, my mom showed my sisters and I cooking techniques as well as different crafts and artwork done in the Baltic States.”
Luschas also said she had an online art shop at artbythedozen.etsy.com. “I love the idea of taking an art form and making it accessible to others.”
For her winning egg designs, Luschas will receive a free year-long subscription to the Lithuania Tribune, the best daily source for news and views from Lithuania in English.
