Lithuania to expand its armed forces

DELFI / Kiril Čachovskij

The president’s amendments propose establishing that in case of a state of war, officers of the Public Security Service and the VIP Protection Department would be made part of the Lithuanian Armed Forces.

Under the current law, only officers of the State Border Guard Service from all the internal affairs officers could join the army in case of a war.

According to the president, the assignment of professional and well-trained officers to the Lithuanian Armed Forces would not only increase the numbers, but would at the same ensure a higher level of preparedness.
