Lithuanian police thank NATO aviators for helping car accident victims

The Canadian corporals were thanked for taking care of a pedestrian injured in a crash until arrival of paramedics, the Šiauliai Central Police Commissariat said.

The accident occurred on 19 December when a Seat Alhambra hit a 57-year-old man who was later taken to hospital with multiple shinbone fractions and forehead and head injuries.

Before arrival of paramedics, the Canadians immobilized the man’s leg and waited for the ambulance to arrive.

“Their conduct is a lesson of civil spirit to all residents,” Šiauliai County Police Chief Rimantas Bobinas said, applauding the fact that NATO troops do not guard against external threats but also provide assistance to local residents.
