According to information available to BNS, prosecutors have suggested that Sergey Moiseyenko, a 66-year-old Russian citizen, should be sent to prison for 13 years for espionage and unlawful possession of a large number of cartridges, explosives and grenades.
Meanwhile, former Lithuanian Air Force Aviation Base officer, captain Sergejus Pušinas, 34, faces a jail term of six years.
The verdict in the case should be announced on Feb. 27.
The probe was launched in December of 2014 after the Second Investigations Department under the Ministry of Defense collected information about recruitment of Pušinas by Russian intelligence back in 2012. According to case information, Pušinas collected information for Russia and handed it over via Moiseyenko who, during secret meetings, transmitted the information and specified tasks of the Russian intelligence service on ways of collecting information and technical means of recording such data.
Pušinas is charged of collecting and handing over information between 2012 and the end of 2014 about Lithuania’s Armed Forces and operations of NATO air-policing missions, flights of jets serving in the missions, military training, locations of military capacities, the Lithuanian army’s and NATO International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) operations in Afghanistan, intelligence aircrafts operated from remote locations, their flights and possible stationing locations.
Both Pusinas and Moiseyenko are in custody since December 29 of 2014.
