Aleksandras Zubriakovas, an advisor to the mayor of Vilnius, told BNS that bids had been submitted by Adampolis, a dealer of MAN trucks and buses, jointly with the Lithuanian branch of UniCredit Leasing, and by Poland’s Solaris Bus & Coach jointly with Lithuania’s DNB Bankas.
“The assessment of technical specifications will now take place. It is hard to say how much time it might take,” he said.
Vilnius is looking to purchase buses meeting ecological standards and plans to pay for these vehicles within a period of eight years.
The capital currently has over 350 buses with an average age of 14 years, including vehicles manufactured by Germany’s Mercedes-Benz and MAN, Sweden’s Volvo, Spain’s Carrocera Canstrosua and others.
