Chinese and Central-Eastern European ministers meeting in Riga

The event in Riga on May 16-17 is the first official meeting of Chinese and Central-Eastern European transport ministers. The Lithuanian delegation is led by Transport Minister Rimantas Sinkevičius.

Lithuania seeks to become one of the hubs of trade between China and Europe, offering the services of its Klaipėda Seaport.

China proposed the cooperation scheme with 16 Central-Eastern European countries, dubbed China+16, in 2012. One of the areas is developing transport infrastructure to allow more intense trade between the regions.
