Construction work volume on the increase in Lithuania

In Q1 2015, the volume of construction work carried out in the country amounted to EUR 392 million at current prices. Against Q4 2014, the volume of construction work decreased by 50 percent at constant prices, while seasonally and working day adjusted – increased by 2.2 percent.

Against Q1 2014, the volume of construction work carried out increased by 9.8 percent, working day adjusted – by 10 percent.

The share of construction of non-residential buildings accounted for 43 percent of total construction work carried out. At constant prices, the share of construction of non-residential buildings was the same as in Q1 2014.

The share of construction of civil engineering structures accounted for 40 percent of total construction work carried out in the country. Against Q1 2014, the share of construction of civil engineering structures increased by 9.9 percent.

The share of construction of residential buildings accounted for 17 percent of total construction work carried out, or by 46.1 percent more than in Q1 2014.

In Q1 2015, the volume of construction work carried out abroad amounted to EUR 28 million. Against Q4 2014, the volume of construction work carried out abroad decreased by 39.4 percent, against Q1 2014, by 18.2 percent.

Construction work carried out refers to the value (VAT excluded) of all kinds of work carried out when building a new structure, reconstructing, repairing (restoring) or demolishing a structure for a customer (sale) or for own needs. It excludes the value of land and design work.
