Court acquits former Lithuanian MP Matuzas in bribery case

Judge Stasys Lemezis ruled there was no evidence that Matuzas embezzled money from a charity fund.

Prosecutors had wanted Matuzas to be sentenced to five years in prison.

Matuzas was a member of parliament in 2000-2004 and 2008-2012, representing the conservative Homeland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrats.
