Over the past 24 hours, 1,244 new cases of coronavirus infection have been confirmed in Lithuania – slightly less than the previous day. However, more than twice as many deaths have been recorded.

During the previous 24 hours, 15 people lost the fight against the virus. The incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants has dropped slightly over the last fourteen days. It is now 573.6.

The percentage of positive tests for Sars-COV2 within the week is 5.4 per cent.

During the past day, over 18,700 tests were performed.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 255,384  thousand people have been diagnosed with the infection in Lithuania.

Statistically, over 229,600 people have recovered. (declared: over 183.5 thousand).

“When the registration for AstraZeneca vaccine was opened in Vilnius on Friday for people aged 35 and above, the supply of this vaccine was almost exhausted,” said the mayor of Vilnius Remigijus Šimašius at a press conference on Friday.

“I am glad that after opening this morning the possibility of vaccinations for people aged 35 and older, the vaccine stocks ran out within a few hours, today we have no vacancies, which is a bit sad, because I would like to give everyone a chance to get vaccinated,” the mayor stated.

He also said that AstraZeneca will be administered to people aged 35 and older from Friday to Monday.

On Monday, the municipality will receive 23,000. Pfizer vaccines, about half of which will be dedicated to the first immunization in adults 45 years of age and older and about half to the second dose.

As of Friday after 3pm, there were around 1,300 Pfizer vaccine registration sites in the capital’s vaccine registration system, as well as around 200 other AstraZeneca immunization sites.

Yesterday, over 32,000 people were vaccinated in the country.

The first dose was given to over 13,750 people, the second necessary for over 18,600.

Since the beginning of vaccination, more than 739.5 thousand inhabitants have received at least one dose of the vaccine, the full vaccination course has completed for over 367,600.

26.5 of the Lithuanian population percent have been vaccinated with at least one dose.

From the beginning of deliveries to the country, 1 million 268 thousand 555 doses of the vaccine were delivered from four manufacturers, more than 161,000 were not used.

As a result of COVID-19, there were 15 deaths among people aged 50 to 99 during the past 24 hours.

Six people died at the age of over 80, 4 fatalities were in their seventies, and two deaths were recorded in the age groups 60 to 69 and 90 to 99.

One person died after the age of 50.

The total number of deaths from COVID-19 in Lithuania is 4,019. The number of coronavirus-related deaths has increased to 8,094.

Most fatalities – 1,457 – belonged to the 80-89 age group.
