EU gives €15m to new Baltic mobile LNG stations

The EU has awarded €15 million in financial support to a five-partner project, Blue Baltics, involving AB Klaipėdos Nafta, to develop an LNG bunkering network in Baltic Sea ports.

The Blue Baltics project includes investments in LNG mobile equipment installation which should supply LNG to maritime and other transport of Lithuania, Sweden, Estonia and Germany.

The project will also develop LNG infrastructure in Klaipėda, LNG station infrastructure in Estonia and LNG distribution terminal upgrade in Sweden and bunkering ship in Germany.

Klaipėdos Nafta will receive €4 million in funding and the project is scheduled for completion at the end of the second quarter of 2019.

The Connecting Europe Facility Coordination Committee officially announced that it will allocate the funding on July 8.
