The ceremony will be attended by Liudas Mažylis, a professor at Vytautas Magnus University who has recently found the only known original copy of the document in the German Foreign Ministry’s archives, as well as Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius and the heads of the library and the House of Signatories.

German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel handed the facsimile to Linkevičius last week.

The Council of Lithuania on February 16, 1918 proclaimed the restoration of an independent state of Lithuania, founded on democratic principles, with Vilnius as its capital.
