French warship to visit Klaipėda port

During the visit her crew and representatives of the Lithuanian Navy will pay tribute to French prisoners of war who perished while building the King Wilhelm Canal, attend other formal events that will be conducted in the presence of the Ambassador of France and Lithuania’s Deputy Minister of National Defence Marijus Velička. The French ship will also be open to the general public, Lithuania’s Ministry of National Defence said.

The FS Pluvier (P 678) arrives in Klaipeda after taking part in an international search and rescue exercise Baltic Sarex that had taken place in the Baltic Sea near the island of Bornholm, Denmark. Lithuania was represented in the exercise that ran on May 4-9 by the LNS Aukštaitis (P 14), a patrol boat of the Lithuanian Navy.
