Grybauskaitė first attended the forum this year. In 2001, 2008 and 2009, Lithuania’s representative at the prestigious event was then president Valdas Adamkus. In 2012, then PM Andrius Kubilius had received an invitation to the upcoming forum but lost his post after a defeat in the parliamentary elections and did not go. In other years, Lithuanian leaders were not invited.
Held in the Swiss ski resort of Davos every January, the forum brings together experts and opinion leaders from across the globe to discuss global challenges.
Receipt of an invitation to Davos was reported by Latvia’s PM Laimdota Straujuma on Tuesday, as well.
