Guoga has taken over the part-ownership rights from Sigitas Zidonis, a lawyer, and Remigijus Kazilionis, a member of the BC Lietuvos Rytas staff. Darius Gudelis and the city of Vilnius remain the club’s part-owners.
The ownership change comes a few days after Gedvydas Vainauskas, the club’s president, caused a public outcry by making racist comments about black players and means that he is likely to step down from the post shortly.
Guoga was the manager of the Lithuanian national men’s basketball team between 2010 and 2012 and served as vice-president of the Lithuanian Basketball Federation.
