“As the deadline of my dismissal from the position of general manager approaches, I have handed in my letter of resignation and asked to terminate the employment contract, ending Nov. 20, 2018, earlier, as of Sep. 21,” Strupas said in a statement.
He has managed the hospital since Nov. 10, 2013.
Strupas was suspended in February amid a large-scale corruption probe by law enforcement institutions, also involving the clinic’s Information and Development Center director Romualdas Kizlaitis, and several other persons.
They are suspected of involvement in a large-scale corruption scheme in which bribes, disguised as financial support to the hospital, were demanded from businesses in exchange for public procurement contracts.
Documents seen by BNS Lithuania show Strupas is suspected in at least five episodes when bribes were demanded for public procurement contructs in the area of information technologies.
Strupas and Kizlaitis reject accusations.
