IAEA to test nuclear safety in Lithuania for the first time

An International Atomic Energy Agency mission (IAEA) is coming to Lithuania for the first time to assess nuclear and radiation safety in Lithuania.

IAEA experts will meet with Lithuanian authorities and business representatives, visit and assess companies that have the sources of ionizing radiation: Vilniaus Energija, Santariškės hospital, Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant.

Experts will then give preliminary observations, and later present the final report to the government of Lithuania, the EU member states and the European Commission.
