A 12-member renowned Indian folk dance group performed across six cities in Lithuania from May 24 to 31, 2025. They mesmerised the audience in Klaipėda, Birštonas, Alytus, Kaunas, Vilnius and Šilutė.

The group led by Babu Khan Mirasi, comes from the Indian state of Rajasthan. Rajasthan is renowned for its vibrant culture, which is rooted in centuries-old traditions of music, dance, and storytelling. The troupe brought to life the soulful sounds and captivating movements of the desert. They represented the spirit of Rajasthan’s legendary communities – the Manganiyars, Langas, Kalbeliyas, and Mirasis – each known for their distinctive musical traditions.

Through music and movement, the Indian Babu Khan Mirasi Group offered the Lithuanian audience a vibrant glimpse into one of India’s most treasured cultural traditions.

The Embassy of India in Vilnius organised their performances in different cities of Lithuania in collaboration with local municipalities. The event was part of celebrating 2025-26 as a Year of people-to-people connections between India and Lithuania. It marks 130 years since the first Indian, Dr Jivanji Jamshedji Modi, visited Lithuania (Kaunas, 1895) and 400 years since the first known Lithuanian, Andrius Rudamina, arrived in India (Goa, 1625).
