Lithuania, Kazakhstan to sign deal on handover of convicts

The bilateral treaty will be signed by Lithuania’s Justice Minister Milda Vainiutė and Kazakhstan’s Prosecutor General Zhakip Asanov.

With the document, the countries will agree to hand over persons sentenced to jail terms and individuals subjected to coercive medical treatment.

According to a press release from the Justice Ministry, there are currently no legal grounds for handover of Lithuanian citizens sentenced to jail terms in Kazakhstan to Lithuania for serving the rest of their sentences and the handover of Kazakh citizens sentenced in Lithuania to Kazakhstan.
