Detained in Lithuania, the Belgian citizen Ibrahim Ahmadoun, 34, is suspected of having sanctioned a private jet with a ton of cocaine aboard during his shift as a flight controller at the Antwerpen airport.
The court noted that its ruling was not in connection to the foreigner’s complicity in the crime, only recognizing the allegations of the possibility for him to commit the criminal deeds specified in the US extradition request.
The court opened hearings into the US request last December. In mid-December of 2015, a judge authorised prosecutors to provide additional documents within two months. The Vilnius court then found lack of evidence of Ahmadoun’s complicity in the crimes he is charged with.
