Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis said the step was taken as part of Lithuania’s efforts to help Ukraine in every way possible.

“Ukraine is an important Lithuanian partner. We are not indifferent to the needs of the country and its regions. Today’s project is yet another specific gesture of Lithuania’s support and good will to the people of Ukraine,” Skvernelis said in a press release.

Ukraine will receive low-capacity 33.500-euro transmitters, Remigijus Šeris, head of the Lithuanian Radio and Television Center, told BNS.

Kiev wants the recovered broadcasts from Donetsk to cover the territories that are not controlled by the Ukrainian government.

Based in the city of Kramatorsk, the Donetsk regional state administration turned to Lithuania in July with a request to help restore Ukrainian TV and radio broadcasts in Donetsk.

In 2015, Lithuania handed Ukraine 15 analog transmitters of various capacity.
