“Lithuania is willing to support the possible international mechanism approved by the United Nations Security Council,” said the ministry but did not provide further details.

In a press release, the Foreign Ministry welcomes the ceasefire agreement and expresses hope that the “agreement will serve as an impetus for further political process as the only way of building long-term peace.”

According to the communiqué, the agreement envisages that Hamas and other military groups in the Gaza Strip cease missile and other attacks on Israel, while the Palestinian administration should resume Gaza control and ensure efficient governance of the region.

Meanwhile, Israel should modify the restrictions, thus making a major improvement in the living conditions for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and promote economic growth, the ministry noted.

The Lithuanian ministry applauded the Egyptian government’s efforts to make the agreement happen.

UN Security Council members propose establishing an international mechanism for observing the ceasefire and supply of products to the Gaza Strip.
