Lithuanian cities to receive Dutch tulip bulbs as Centennial Gift

Ahead of the 100-year anniversary of Lithuania’s independence, the Embassy of the Netherlands is presenting Lithuanian cities with 4,000 bulbs of outstanding tulips Amber Lithuania. The municipalities and local communities will plant the bulbs this fall, so that Amber Lithuania could bloom in symbolic signs of LT100 in public areas of the cities next spring, as Lithuania celebrates its statehood anniversary.

The tulip bulbs will be presented to Vilnius, Kaunas, Panevėžys and Švenčionys.

The Friday’s event will be attended by Deividas Matulionis, the prime minister’s foreign policy adviser, Dutch Ambassador to Lithuania Bert van der Lingen and representatives of the cities of Vilnius, Kaunas, Panevėžys and Švenčionys.
