Ambassador of Lithuania to the United States Žygimantas Pavilionis and Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Darius Skusevičius discussed the founding of the consulate with local Lithuanians.
According to the ambassador, the consulate must be set up in the West Coast of the United States in cooperation with Lithuanians and Lithuanian Americans, because only this way a representation worthy of pride may be founded.
The preparation to establish a consulate has entered its final stages. During the visit, premises will be chosen and the team will be finally formed. The Lithuanian representation is expected to open its doors within several months.
According to the ambassador, the representation’s priority will be assistance to local Lithuanians and consular, economic and cultural activities. The representation will help consolidate the efforts of Lithuanian expatriates cooperating with the local government, congressmen and congresswomen as well as senators on issues relevant to Lithuania and the whole region.
