“Today we interrogated a witness and published case materials. A few more hearings are planned. Closing statements are expected at the next hearing,” Prosecutor Redas Savickas, in charge of organized crime and corruption at the Prosecutor General‘s Office, told BNS after the hearing that was held behind closed doors.
The next hearing is planned for September 3.
Oshurkov, who formerly served at the Lithuanian Grand Duke Algirdas Mechanized Infantry Battalion, was arrested in January 2014.
Last December, the State Security Department said it had established Oshurkov had been recruited by the Chief Intelligence Board of the Belarusian Armed Forces’ General Staff in Belarus to later infiltrate him in the Lithuanian army for special tasks.
Prosecutors suspect that Oshurkov supplied data to Belarus for five years and received money in return.
In a hearing in April, Oshurkov admitted his guilt.
