The minister said that Ukraine should also become free and democratic soon.

“You were on duty in Vilnius in 1991 in the defence of Lithuania’s freedom. Lithuania today is an active defender of independent and unified Ukraine on various fronts. I expect that your efforts to have a free and democratic country making independent decisions will become reality soon. Lithuania’s support for the people of Ukraine is our gratitude for your support on our road to independence. Today we again recall the slogan that unites us – “for your and our freedom”,” said Linkevičius.

Dykyi is in Lithuania to attend the festivities to mark the Day of Freedom Defenders. On Monday, he made a speech at the parliament and delivered a lecture at the Lithuanian Military Academy on Tuesday.

Dykyi, a doctor in biology, was a lecturer at the Kiev National University, was actively involved in the Orange Revolution and was injured while heading a riflemen unit in Eastern Ukraine in the summer of 2014.
